Steve Bell Classical Guitar

House Concerts and Parties …. Art Gallery Events … Wineries … Restaurants … Weddings and other special events

I have been in love with the guitar since my mother brought me one she picked up in a market in Mexico back in 1974. After a couple years of plinking and playing around I was able to take lessons eventually learning from Don Koke at the Music Emporium in Eldorado, Kansas. One day I asked Don about learning fingerstyle guitar. He had an old classical guitar method book that he handed me, because I read music. I fell in love with the classical guitar and have been ever since.

Eventually, I would go on to study with classical guitar teachers including the venerable Old Joe Cozad in Olathe, Kansas and master classes with Pepe Romero and Christopher Parkening. I studied engineering at Kansas State University, but was lucky to get time to learn some basis theory and music interpretation. I continued playing in a number of venues after moving to the Washington DC area in 1989.

The results of decades of playing is uplifting set of music spanning over 400 years of music from the 21st to the 16th centuries. I have shared a few of these in the recordings below. I play for the joy of the music and the privilege to share that joy with others, performing locally in the Stafford & Fredricksburg, VA area. Whether you want a house concert, music for a special event, accompanist, or someone to play a small ensemble, I would be delighted to be part of making your event special and memorable.
